An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck off the Syrian coast and 40 km north of the city of Latakia felt by some Syrian cities, Turkey and Cyprus.
The National Seismological Center said in a statement that SANA received a copy of it that the stations of the National Seismic Observatory had recorded an earthquake measuring 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale and a depth of 2 km. .
The National Seismology Center mentioned that the stations of the National Seismic Observing Network had recorded at one thirty-seven minutes at dawn today local time a moderate earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on the Richter scale and a depth of 2 km near the Syrian coast and 33 km northwest of the city of Latakia and felt some Syrian cities, Turkey and Cyprus.
Two aftershocks were recorded off the Syrian coast with a magnitude of 3.0 and 0.2 degrees on the Richter scale and at a depth of 20 and 7 km, at one hour forty-seven minutes and one hour and fifty-five minutes early today followed by a group of aftershocks of small magnitude.
