COUNTERPOINT - One week before deconfinement, nothing would be worse than a sling from local elected officials against a central power already in deficit of confidence in opinion.

The reopening of schools, the criminal responsibility of elected officials, municipal elections: three separate subjects but each involving the link of the executive with the mayors and expressing a double concern for pragmatism and prudence of the government. Caution dictated by the desire to associate the elected representatives as well as possible with deconfinement while avoiding possible political trials.

As May 11 approaches, more and more local elected officials are worried about the “unsustainable calendar” about schools . At this moment of truth, nothing would be worse than a sling of the mayors against a central power already in deficit of confidence in the opinion. But the government knows that it would be just as dangerous to give up a national strategy since, ultimately , it is the French that will hold it to account. If it is not a question of relying on the voluntary service of the first councilors, the idea is to show flexibility by leaving to each one, in consultation with the prefect anyway,
