Coronavirus: Russian hospital fire, one dead

According to the Russian news agency RIA, the fire started in the room of a patient.

A person was killed after a fire started on Saturday in a Moscow hospital where patients infected with the new coronavirus were being treated, the ministry of emergencies said.

The hospital, located northwest of Moscow, was designated by the authorities as one of the medical facilities treating patients with coronavirus in the Russian capital.

According to the RIA news agency, the fire started in the bedroom of a patient. The fire has since been extinguished, authorities said.

Russia has so far registered 198,676 cases of viruses and 1,827 deaths. The number of Russian coronavirus cases this week surpassed French and German infections to become the fifth highest in the world.
