A laboratory in China is developing a drug that it claims can curb the spread of the corona virus and turn it from a global epidemic into a local outbreak.
The drug, which is being developed at the prestigious Peking University in Beijing, is scheduled to cut disease recovery time in half and even provide short-term protection against the disease.
Sonny Xi, a Chinese American scientist and head of the University Innovation Center, told the French news agency A that the drug had already successfully passed the experimental stages on animals.
"When we injected the drug, it applied neutralized antibodies to the infected mice, after five days the viral load in mice dropped very significantly. That's where we realized the potential of the drug," said Shay.
The drug uses antibodies removed from the bodies of sixty patients recovering from the disease. The drug has already attracted interest from reputed scientific and medical journals in which the prestigious "cell" magazine. Xi says that the development team "works days and nights to advance the drug development."
