(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 22 - "We are sorry that the US government has announced its intention to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty, even if we share its concerns about Russia's implementation of the Treaty clauses".
But "it is a crucial element and we will continue to implement the Treaty, which provides clear added value to our conventional arms control architecture and our cooperative security. We reiterate that this Treaty remains operational and useful". Italy, other EU member states of NATO plus Sweden declare it in a statement.
