(ANSA) - NEW YORK, MAY 29 - No Netflix production will be present at the upcoming film festivals on the calendar before the Oscars and not even talent. So no Venice or the New York Film Festival or Telluride. The streaming giant will however be present as a sponsor. Or at least this supports Indiewire that will happen.
In reality it is a strategy that is no longer surprising. Although the various festivals are the gateway to the Oscars, Netflix had already chosen to present its films to the press or influencers through the Paris, the historic New York movie theater that went unsuccessful but saved by Netflix and became like a platform before the pandemic. In Los Angeles, however, the screenings take place at the Egyptian Theater. Furthermore, with the new rules introduced by the Academy for the next Oscars and the Golden Globes, streaming films can also qualify. (HANDLE).
