A septuagenarian was killed by firearm at the family home north of Toulouse and his wife is accused of "intentional homicide" , said the prosecution to AFP on Thursday 4 June.

The facts took place Wednesday afternoon, in the town of Union (Haute-Garonne). "This couple was unknown to the justice system, including for acts of domestic violence , " said the prosecution. They were a couple in their 70s, according to a source familiar with the investigation. The woman was taken to the emergency room "in serious condition", according to the firefighters who intervened.

"The accused is currently hospitalized and will be placed in police custody as soon as his condition allows," said the prosecution, without giving further details on the circumstances of the homicide. According to the noon dispatch, the man was hit by two bullets, while his wife suffered from a chest injury. The Toulouse Saint-Michel research brigade is seized of the investigation.
