France denounced on Tuesday the conviction on appeal of the French-Iranian researcher Fariba Adelkhah to five years in prison in Iran, seeing it as a decision with " exclusively political objective ".

" We condemn this decision by the Iranian authorities who persist in detaining Ms. Fariba Adelkhah despite the absence of serious evidence or fact established, with an exclusively political objective ," said the spokeswoman for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
