(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 15 - "It is believed that Finnegan Lee Elder was capable of understanding or wanting at the time of the event" and is therefore "attributable". This is what can be read in the conclusions of the psychiatric report ordered by the court of Rome in the confrontations of the Californian accused, together with Gabriel NataleHjorth, of the murder of the deputy brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega stabbed on 26 July last year. "We approach the two of them from the front and we take out the card saying that we were Carabinieri". This was reported by Andrea Varriale, the carabiniere who was on patrol in plainclothes with the vice-brigadiere Mario Cerciello Rega on the night of July 26 last year when the latter was killed with five knives by Finnegan Elder. Varriale is heard as a witness in the trial that also sees Gabriel NataleHjorth charged. "We had to have the gun but for convenience and because we have to camouflage the weapon it is no longer a problem, I have never had to use it in the service in the nightlife area," he added.
