(ANSA) - LONDON, JUL 16 - The DIY statue dedicated to the British demonstrator Jen Reid of the Black LivesMatters (Blm) movement, raised with a blitz the other night, was removed at dawn to avoid any tension in Bristol instead of that of the 17th century slave trader Edward Colstondivelta during the anti-racist demonstrations in June.
The intervention was announced yesterday evening the mayor of the British city, Mervin Rees, Labor and black, opposed to put the Colston monument in its place, but also improvised and "unauthorized" initiatives outside of any law or rule.
The 'abusive' sculpture, made in black resin by the artist Marc Quinn from London and renamed 'A Surge of Power', was transferred to a city museum: the author, the municipal authorities have made it known, will be able to donate it to remain exposed or take it to him choice.
The work depicts a militant who during the events of last month which also took place in Great Britain, in the wake of the wave of protests following the killing of the African American George Floyd in Minneapolis by the police, had been noticed by the media for being climbed on the pedestal after the assault on the statue of Edward Colston getting back with a raised fist.
