Shock in the world of mountaineering. While climbing one of the highest parts of the cliff on the island of Tavolara, on the north-eastern side of Sardinia, Giuliano Stenghel, a famous mountaineer from Rovereto from home in Gallura, crashed and died. Sten, as his friends called him, had been a national mountaineering instructor since 1978, but also an emeritus instructor of the Cai and academic member of the GISM. A lover of mountains and great rock climbs, he was considered an acrobat of ascents. In the mountaineering world he was known as 'the master of the brittle' for his ability to move on difficult and extremely brittle rocks even with few protections.
