Latvian tennis player Yelena Ostapenko announced her withdrawal from the US Open due to the Corona virus.
Sky Sports reported today that Ostapenko, 23, the former French Open champion, announced her withdrawal from the American championship for fear of the spread of the Corona virus, and thus joined six prominent players who decided earlier not to participate in the American championship.
The six players, who are world number one Ashley Barty and world number two Simona Halep, along with defending champion Bianca Andreescu, Helena Svitolina, Kiki Bertens and Belinda Bencic, decided not to participate in the US championship.
