18,000 people in Berlin, only a few hundred in Paris… If anti-mask movements are emerging in Europe against the health measures taken by governments, the French protest movement has only just begun. They were barely 300, gathered at Place de la Nation to denounce the compulsory wearing of masks with cries of "freedom, freedom!" »With the support of several« yellow vests ».
Gathered from 1:00 pm, the demonstrators notably accused the government of "manipulating people out of fear" and of imposing the mask in several large cities "without any scientific justification". They were quickly surrounded by dozens of police, some of whom issued tickets of 135 euros for not wearing a mask.
“People don't want the mask, they only wear it because they are afraid of getting a fine,” one of the protesters said over the microphone to applause. At least 30,596 French people have died from an infection due to the coronavirus and more than 7,379 new cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours.
