A new case of a mutilated and killed horse has been discovered in France, this time in Morbihan, the Lorient prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday 2 September.

During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, in Saint-Tugdual, "
a mare (Breton draft) was the victim of serious mutilation (genitalia cut, ear cut off) and killed, in a meadow next to dwellings,
" said Stéphane Kellenberger, Lorient public prosecutor, in a press release.
The mare belonged to a small local equestrian center.
Other horses, which were nearby, were not injured, according to the same source.
This execution of equine is the first of its kind, recently, in Morbihan, but it "
seems to be part of the continuity of similar offenses, committed for several months, on the national territory
", underlines the prosecution.
Various investigations were underway, entrusted by the prosecution to the Research Brigade (BR) of the Pontivy gendarmerie: technical and scientific police, samples, telephony and cross-checks, detailed the prosecutor.
Numerous acts of mutilation of equines have occurred in recent months throughout France, sowing confusion as to their perpetrators and their motivations.
