What the next Leipzig Book Fair will look like under pandemic conditions is still open.

The concept is now being gradually refined, they say.

But one thing is now clear: the book fair will move its date from March to the end of May next year.

The new date in the warmer season gives the trade fair organizers more flexibility in the corona pandemic, explained Director Oliver Zille.

The outdoor area of the exhibition grounds could also be used, there were more opportunities for the large accompanying reading festival "Leipzig reads" and the associated comic fair Manga-Comic-Con.

Accordingly, the book fair is to be held from May 27th to 30th.

One million euros for the fair

In the coming year, the book fair will also receive financial support from the federal government.

State Minister for Culture Monika Grütters (CDU) has pledged one million euros.

The fair announced that the money should be used, among other things, to support exhibitors.

How the event will go is still open.

However, the exhibitors should be informed of details at the end of September.

The spring show for the book industry actually always takes place in March; the date for 2021 was March 18-21.

This year the Leipzig Book Show was one of the first major trade fairs in Germany to be canceled due to the corona crisis.
