SLIDESHOW - For the first time, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart is hosting a photo exhibition on its gates, with pictures retracing the life of the Franciscan friars in Jerusalem, from September 10 to December 13.

The Franciscan friars have agreed to open their doors for the first time to a photojournalist. Thomas Coex, AFP photographer then stationed in Jerusalem, accompanied them during their times of prayer, social work and relaxation.

The exhibition brings together 29 prints and invites us to discover unpublished scenes from the daily life of these Catholic religious, faithful guardians of the tomb of Jesus for 800 years.

At the heart of processions in the recesses of the Holy Sepulcher, in the refectory of the convent, during basketball games with the students of their schools or in the infirmary where the oldest brothers are cared for, these images reveal a world where the everyday and the sacred live harmoniously together.
