Members of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Rural Damascus seized three tons and two hundred kilograms of catering bread with a person in the town of Minin who collects it for trade and sells it as fodder bread.

The Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Rural Damascus, Louay Salem, indicated in a statement to SANA that the arrest had been organized against the violator and those with him and referred to the judiciary to complete the investigation and find out the source of their access to the material.

Salem explained that the directorate continues to receive citizens' complaints on the designated number 120 and its social media sites and to address them, stressing that the directorate’s personnel are permanently present in the markets until late at night.

The smuggling of bread and selling it to other than the purpose for which it is intended is a direct harm to the national economy, society and the citizen, as the government spends hundreds of billions of pounds annually to secure a loaf of bread at a price commensurate with the citizen's purchasing power.
