The lifeless bodies of a woman and two children were found 12 nautical miles from the eastern coast of Crete, where their boat sank by strong winds of 7 Beaufort (50 to 61 km / h), according to the same source.

A passenger from the stranded boat called the emergency number for help.

The immediate rescue operation helped rescue 53 migrants whose nationality was not specified.

The search continued into the night to try to find possible other victims, the authorities not knowing the exact number of people initially on board the wrecked boat.
