STORY - The American Greg Kelly, former right-hand man of Carlos Ghosn at Nissan, finds himself alone in the box of the accused to answer for facts above all reproached to the former CEO.

Strange birthday.

This Tuesday, Greg Kelly, the former right-hand man of Carlos Ghosn at Nissan, will be 64 years old.

That same day, at 10:30 am, he will enter room 104 of the Tokyo court for a trial at the end of which he risks ten years in prison.

The American is the main accused in a case in which he was initially only a supporting role.

But Carlos Ghosn fled.

Despite its representations to Interpol, Japan will probably never judge him.

From the Ghosn case, therefore, the Japanese justice system only has this trial.

It will be a river trial: 76 bi-weekly hearing days, public and with translation into English, are scheduled until next July.

The verdict is expected between fall 2021 and spring 2022.
