The European Commission today sent the UK a letter of formal notice for breaching its obligations under the Withdrawal Agreement" on Brexit.
"This marks the start of formal infringement proceedings against the UK. You have one month to respond to today's letter."
This was announced by the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
"Article 5 of the Withdrawal Agreement stipulates that the European Union and the United Kingdom must take all appropriate measures to ensure the fulfillment of the obligations arising from the Withdrawal Agreement and that they must refrain from any measures that could compromise the achievement of these objectives. Both parties are bound by the obligation to cooperate in good faith in carrying out the tasks deriving from the Withdrawal Agreement ", states the note from the European Commission.
