From Sicily to London in love: Eleven-year-old Romeo Cox embarked on a journey of more than 2,800 km, which lasted about three months. At the end of the road, he did not meet Julia, but his 77-year-old grandmother in the British capital. In June, Romeo set out with his father, Phil (46), and during the journey they managed to defeat wild dogs and even managed to tame a wild boar.
In addition to long walks they sailed in boats and rode bicycles and donkeys.
But Romeo, English on his father's side and Italian on his mother's side, did not complain and even noted that it was an "easy" journey as he made his way home.
During the voyage the two passed through neighboring Italy and northern Switzerland, and from there they moved to France until they reached the western canopy, then crossed the English Channel to Britain.
Along the way they slept in churches and hostels and were even hosted in the homes of strangers who offered them a place to stay.
But there were also days when the journey included sleeping outdoors.
According to Romeo, "We got confused a few times along the way, sleeping under a wasp's nest, it was not a good idea. My legs were bleeding, but we never thought of giving up."
During the trip, they also raised donations of more than £ 11,000 to the REACT (Refugee Education Across Conflicts Trust) Refugee Fund. On September 21, after 93 days, they arrived at Trafalgar Square. The meeting with Grandma Rosemary had to wait until the end.
