Covid-19 in France: 96 deaths and 8,500 new contaminations in 24 hours

According to the daily report from Public Health France, 8,505 new Covid-19 contaminations have been identified over the past 24 hours.

The other indicators bear witness to a situation that continues to deteriorate over the days.

1,496 epidemic outbreaks are being investigated, including 304 in nursing homes, or 55 additional “clusters” in the space of 24 hours.

A positivity rate of 11.8%

The test positivity rate now stands at 11.8%, compared to 11.5% the day before.

In the past 24 hours, 96 patients have succumbed to Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus victims in France to 32,825, including 21,993 in hospital.

At the hospital, the health authorities have also recorded 5,350 new hospitalizations related to Covid-19 over the last seven days.

Among these patients, 929 were admitted to intensive care.

“The reality of the second wave is here.

I call for all of us to mobilize, there can no longer be any relaxation ”, Prime Minister Jean Castex underlined in the morning.
