Fifteen countries have won membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council for a period of three years beginning on January 1, 2021.
The United Nations News Site stated that the Human Rights Council elections took place today in the General Assembly Hall, taking into account the measures of physical distancing and public health related to Covid 19.
The General Assembly announced the winning countries: Bolivia, China, Ivory Coast, Cuba, France, Gabon, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Senegal, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.
These are the first elections to be held in the seventy-fifth session of the General Assembly, and the first to be held by the General Assembly in this way.
