The attacker who fatally wounded a man in the middle of the road in Eragny, in the department of Val d'Oise, in the Parisian hinterland, was reported to have shouted 'Allah akbar', threatening the police with a knife.
This was reported by some French media including Franceinfo.
The suspect was then killed, after a chase, with ten gunshots, the same sources specify.
At the moment there is no indication of the identity of the victim who, according to first press rumors, could be a teacher.
The anti-terrorism prosecutor has opened an investigation.
