(ANSA) - PISA, 22 OCT - There are methods to make deep brain stimulation more effective to counteract the motor symptoms of Parkinson's, which is based on electrical stimulations in certain areas of the brain and manages to eliminate some symptoms such as hand tremor.

This was revealed by a study conducted by the Biorobotics Institute of the Sant'Anna High School of Pisa, the University Hospital of Würzburg in Germany and the University of Genoa, which identified a specific neural signal able to understand when people with Parkinson's start walking or they stop.

This was announced by Sant'Anna.

The result of the study, Sant'Anna continues, "is a very important discovery, both because the brain usually works by changing the amplitude of its rhythms rather than its frequencies, and because researchers have developed a new mathematical technique, based on the theory of information, which makes it possible to immediately identify this change in frequency: thanks to this signal, it will be possible in the future to modulate deep brain stimulation to focus on the Parkinson's disorders associated with walking ".
