Daily coronavirus cases in Austria jumped by more than a quarter compared to the last record high count today.
Reuters quoted Austrian health authorities as saying that 5,627 new cases of the virus were recorded during the past 24 hours.
For his part, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced that he would announce new restrictions to contain the spread of the virus tomorrow, pointing out that a second general isolation "would be a last resort" in the event of the continued increase in infections.
