Covid: Panama, president isolates himself by contact with positive

(ANSA) - PANAMA CITY, NOVEMBER 3 - The president of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, has decided to adopt a prudential measure of isolation after learning that one of his collaborators had tested positive.


    Via Twitter, the press office of the presidency announced that "President Laurentino Cortizo will not attend in person any meeting scheduled for November 3 and 4, given that a close collaborator of his tested positive for Covid-19".


    Through a subsequent tweet it was then learned that the head of state "underwent the Sofia SARS Antigen FIA and PCR tests, which both gave negative results. The isolation phase will continue until the tests are repeated in a few days".


    According to the latest report by the health authorities, Panama has recorded 134,915 infections and 2,720 deaths since March. (ANSA).
