Joe Biden announced that he had achieved a solid victory in the presidential election that took place last Tuesday, in which he defeated outgoing Republican President Donald Trump, pledging to move away from the hostile language of his predecessor and to seek to heal the rift in the country.
"The people of this nation have said their word ... they have given us an outright victory ... a firm victory," adding, "The time has come to heal in America ... I pledge," Biden was quoted by Agence France-Presse as saying in a speech announcing victory. To be president does not seek division but unification.
Biden continued .. "Let us begin here today the end of this era of demonization in America ... I have sought this position to restore the spirit of America, rebuild the backbone of this nation, which is the middle class, and to make America respectable in the world again."
On the other hand, Biden announced that, as of tomorrow, he will form a crisis cell for the emerging corona virus that includes scientists and experts to face the most prominent challenge that his administration will find itself before him since the first day of his term.
He said .. "I will form a cell on Monday that includes scientists and experts in order to work on a plan that will be implemented as of January 20."
In turn, his deputy, Kamala Harris, said that "at a time when our democracy itself was at stake in these elections ... and America's spirit was at stake before the eyes of the whole world, the voters inaugurated a new day for America."
Harris pledged to work toward "the eradication of systemic racism", making a plea for reunification and unity.
On the other hand, Trump insisted that Biden "is rushing to falsely portray himself as the winner in the US elections" after the media announced his victory.
Trump said, "We all know why Joe Biden was so quick to falsely portray himself as the winner and why his allies in the media made so much effort to help him ... They don't want the truth to be revealed," according to his description.
He added .. "The simple truth is that these elections are still far from the end," stressing that states have not yet issued final results.
In turn, the outgoing President Trump's campaign began today to launch a legal battle over the election, as it said that it had filed a lawsuit in Arizona alleging that the most populous county in the southwestern state unlawfully rejected votes made by some voters in the presidential race on Election Day .
The Maricopa County Department of Elections and a spokesman for Democratic winner Joe Biden did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.
In this context, attorney Jenny Ellis, a member of the Trump campaign's legal team, considered that the media do not have the authority to determine the president of the country.
She explained in an article published today on the Fox News website that, "Despite the expectations of many news organizations yesterday night that former Vice President Biden won the presidential elections and defeated President Trump, the media do not have the authority to determine the election result," adding .. that the appeals Legal provided by Trump's re-election campaign remains before the courts and no court rulings have yet been issued.
CNN, NBC News and CBS News announced last night that Biden won the US presidential elections after the ballot result was decided in his favor after he collected 273 electoral college votes after his victory in Pennsylvania.
