As he did on election day, Joe Biden wanted to visit the grave of his son Beau after proclaiming himself president-elect of the United States.

Biden's first child passed away in 2015 at age 46 from a brain tumor.

The cemetery is located next to the Church of Saint Joseph, in Wilmington (Delaware), to whose mass the Democratic leader attended last Sunday.

His late wife Neilia and their daughter Naomi, who died in a car accident in 1972, when his wife was on her way to buy a Christmas tree, are also buried there.

Joe was just elected to the Senate.

In the images of the day in which Biden had obtained what he himself has defined as a "ticket to the White House", with 74 million votes, he can be seen excited, crossing himself in front of the tombstone.

Beau, a veteran of the Iraq war, was a rising star of the Democratic Party.
