Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his hope for an end to US interference in the affairs of Latin American countries after Joe Biden won the presidential elections in the United States.

"With patience, we will work, as I hope, to re-establish decent, honest and direct channels of dialogue with the future Joe Biden administration," Maduro said in a televised address yesterday.

He added that Donald Trump leaves a minefield between the US and Venezuelan governments, and we know this, hoping that the US intervention in Latin America will end under the Biden administration.

"I congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their victory," Maduro said in a tweet yesterday. Venezuela will always be ready for dialogue and good understanding with the people and government of the United States.

During the term of outgoing President Trump, Venezuela was subjected to a fierce campaign of attempts to interfere in its affairs, which reached the point of direct participation in the coup against the legitimate president, Maduro.
