The British newspaper The Independent revealed that millions of workers in the public sector in Britain face a wage freeze during the next year, due to the economic crisis caused by the outbreak of the Corona virus.

The newspaper pointed out that the expected freeze, which comes within the framework of the British government’s attempts to bridge the gap in the country's deteriorating financial conditions due to the Corona crisis, includes teachers, police, civil servants and employees of the British armed forces.

Reports indicate that any plan to freeze public wages will spark controversy and widespread criticism in Britain, at a time when the British government argues that freezing public sector wages for a period of three years will save 23 billion pounds.

Britain entered the worst economic recession in its history after recording a continuous contraction in the second quarter of this year, and many Britons lost their jobs due to the general closure accompanying the measures taken against the background of the outbreak of the Corona virus.
