(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 23 - "The attempt to deflect the debate on the very serious words of the President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the phenomenon of mafias, Nicola Morra, regarding the late Jole Santelli and the Calabrians, an attempt that was inspired by his failure to participate in a Rai program will not be successful as far as we are concerned. Morra must resign because his statements are unworthy of such an important and offensive institutional position, as well as for our colleague who died prematurely, also for all cancer patients and for Calabrians: Morra's obvious lack of political equilibrium and serenity also invalidate the action to combat organized crime that the Commission should conduct ". This was stated by Mariastella Gelmini, Forza Italia group leader in the Chamber of Deputies.

"We will reiterate our request for resignation in every forum and we will not participate in the meetings of the Commission and its Committees: this is already starting from today's convocation at Palazzo San Macuto", he concludes.
