INTERVIEW - The director of the Center for Studies and Knowledge on Public Opinion (Cecop) and researcher associated with Cevipof recalls that since De Gaulle, no president has been re-elected.

- Faced with a combination of crises a year and a half from the end of his five-year term, can Emmanuel Macron win the 2022 presidential election?

- Winning in 2017 was a challenge.

A man never elected or even a candidate, without a real party, succeeded in winning almost without striking a blow.

Getting re-elected in 2022 would be such an incredible feat.

First because of the curse of the outgoing: since de Gaulle, apart from cohabitation, a president is not re-elected.

And Macron faces the most violent crisis since 1945. Obviously, the sky will not be calm again in 2022. Unemployment, impoverishment, debt, deficits, worry about the future… The picture drawn up by the French will be terrible.

The luck of Macron is that it will no longer be his record.
