US President-elect Joe Biden has picked Democratic Representative Deep Haaland of New Mexico to take over the Home Office portfolio on his new government team, according to three informed sources.

Reuters quoted one of the sources as saying that Representative Haaland has emerged as the main option for Biden to head the Ministry of the Interior, a choice that will make her the first indigenous American to receive this position, indicating that the new position will give her authority over the ministry's 70,000 employees across the United States as well as she will supervise On a device that bears major responsibility for tribal files and public lands.

Haaland, 59, is one of the first Native American women elected to Congress and chairs the House Natural Resources Subcommittee that oversees national parks, forests and public lands.

According to "The Hill", women make up more than half of Biden's transition team.
