Saint Romero of America: the utopia of liberation

In the current climate of Latin American Christian fundamentalism in alliance with the narrow political right, it is necessary to recover the prophetic and moral figure of Óscar A. Romero, archbishop of San Salvador.

A group of faithful commemorates, in San Salvador, the 25th anniversary of the murder of Óscar Arnulfo Romero.

We are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Óscar A. Romero, Archbishop of San Salvador (El Salvador), whose mastermind, as recognized by the UN, was the former Army Major Roberto d'Abuisson, founder of the ARENA party and the squads of death.

Shortly after his death, Pedro Casaldáliga, poet, prophet and former bishop of Mato Grosso (Brazil), recently deceased, declared him “Saint Romero of America, our pastor and martyr”.
