When 18-year-old Naomi Meir spotted an object during archeological excavations in the Krayot area, she jumped for joy.

The KKL-JNF is currently conducting archeological excavations at the Tel Usha site. They are assisted by volunteers from the organization's patrol circles. Ninth grade students, residents of the city of Nahariya.

"During the excavation, I immediately recognized a long, colorful and strange object," she says of the moment of discovery.

The object, the JNF explains, is a glass candlestick from the Roman-Byzantine period, between 68 BC and 638 AD.

It is a candle with remnants of oil, which apparently hung on a chandelier with many other candlesticks on it.

Minister Shalom Jerby, director of the organization's education and community division, said with great pride that this is a real Hanukkah miracle that such a find is actually on holiday, even though the candlestick is not from the Hasmonean period but from a later period: "I am proud and happy that the youth Of the JNF take part in knowing the country and exposing findings from the past.

It is exciting that precisely on the holiday of Hanukkah, such a find was discovered, which connects the past to the present.

This is not a coincidence - indeed the Hanukkah miracle. "
