According to the forecast, snow at Christmas is unlikely in Germany.
At the beginning of the Christmas week, a low in the Atlantic brings instead "some rain" with it, as a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) said.
"There is more rain than interruptions."
According to the forecast, this is accompanied by mild temperatures of up to eleven degrees along the Rhine.
In the course of the coming week up to 17 degrees are possible, for example on the Upper Rhine and in the Alpine foothills.
In the north, temperatures should remain in the single-digit range.
Snow line rises over 2000 meters
In the low mountain ranges like in the Sauerland and the Rothaargebirge, according to the DWD, continuous stormy rain must be expected on Monday.
The rain is pouring in from the west and continues to advance during the day, so that large parts of the country get precipitation.
Only the extreme east is initially left out, where the rain does not arrive until late in the evening and on Tuesday night.
Even in the mountains, according to the DWD, snow is not an issue, the snowfall line is rising to over 2000 meters.
In the low mountain ranges the wind is picking up, so that stormy gusts are possible in the higher altitudes.
"In the west there can be wind force seven down to lower altitudes," said a spokesman.
The mixture of rain, mild temperatures and wind in the mountains will last until Christmas Eve on Thursday.
