German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced the extension and tightening of the general lockdown restrictions until the end of this month in an attempt to control the outbreak of the emerging coronavirus.
"We need to restrict mixing more strictly and to an absolute minimum," Merkel said in a statement quoted by Reuters after a meeting with leaders of the sixteen German federal states.
According to the American World Meter website, which specializes in following up global statistics, the total number of Corona cases in Germany reached 1800 496, while the total deaths reached 39,284.
