The fire brigade freed a 15-year-old from a packing station in Frankfurt am Main in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The youth was unharmed, as the police announced.

How long the boy was locked up was initially unclear.

The emergency services assumed that he was trapped in the compartment for over an hour, as a police spokeswoman for the AFP news agency said.

Around 2:30 a.m. in the morning, a witness in the Höchst district called the emergency number because he had heard calls from a box in a packing station.

Shortly afterwards, the fire brigade was able to free the 15-year-old.

The police are now checking whether there could be a criminal offense.
