Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan announces her divorce

(ANSA) - BOMBAY, 03 JUL - Indian cinema superstar Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood's best-known actors, and his wife, director Kiran Rao, announced their separation on Saturday after 15 years of marriage.


    The famous Bollywood couple released a statement saying that their breakup was decided by mutual agreement, but that they will raise the child together and continue to work on joint projects.


    "During these fifteen beautiful years spent together, we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter," they said. "Now we would like to start a new chapter in our lives, no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other."


    A big star in his native country, protagonist of two historic successes in India, "3 idiots" (2009) and "Ghajini" (2008), AmirKhan is also known abroad in particular for having produced and interpreted "Lagaan", the film he presented Bollywood to Western audiences and won an Oscar nomination for foreign films in 2002. The 56-year-old actor, producer and director and his wife, 47, married in December 2005.


   Humanitarian and political activist, Aamir Khan harcited in a remake of the 1994 Hollywood hit "Forrest Gump", titled "Laal Singh Chaddha", scheduled for release in late 2021 (ANSA).
