In response to a recommendation from the National Human Rights Commission, the Mexican Navy Secretariat issued an apology on Tuesday to the relatives of at least 27 people who disappeared in Tamaulipas between February and May 2018. Relatives of the victims maintained at all times that they are innocent and pointed to elements of the navy as those responsible for the disappearances.
