DECRYPTION - The German Chancellor helped her putative successor get back on the saddle after her blunder with the flood victims.

Tuesday, Armin Laschet remained discreet.

In front of the cameras, the candidate for the Chancellery, white shirt and sleeves rolled up, disappeared behind Angela Merkel.

The head of the German government was visiting, together with the president of the CDU, the victims of Bad Munstereifel, a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia particularly affected by the floods which killed more than 160 people in the country.
