In recent months, many families in the state of Michoacán fled their homes to the United States to escape violence caused mainly by drug cartels.

This extreme situation led a group of Mexicans in Tijuana, in southern California, to begin to support these groups in seeking asylum.

"It hurts to see how children live to escape violence and hunger," explains one of the members of the "SOS for Michoacán" project.
