YouTube strengthens its monetization program

Over the past three years, YouTube has paid out $ 30 billion to creators, artists and multimedia companies, belonging to this “

YouTube Partner Program

”, launched 14 years ago.

Today, he remains one of the main drivers of the economy for creators around the world.

Those who participate can generate income and live off the content they publish on YouTube thanks to 10 different monetization features (and soon more),

These features include, for example, the delivery of advertisements, the sale of products or partnerships with brands.

In France, the percentage of channels that achieve a turnover of five figures or more is up by more than 30%, between June 2020 and last June, according to YouTube.

But before joining this partner program, some criteria must be respected.

Among other things, the creator must follow YouTube's monetization policies, which include community guidelines - for example, do not share disinformation videos - and terms of service.

They must also reside in a country where the program is available, have more than 1,000 subscribers and have more than 4,000 viewing hours in the last twelve months.

A success at the rendezvous

YouTube remains one of the leaders in video platforms.

In 2019, 46 million unique French visitors visited the site each month.

And success is still there, with 4,500 channels with more than 100,000 subscribers, an increase of more than 20% over one year.

Note that the increase is similar for the 450 channels with more than one million subscribers.

Across these channels, YouTube displays ads, which generated $ 7 billion in revenue, in the second quarter of 2021.

In France, YouTubeur Squeezie takes first place in the ranking with 16.1 million subscribers, ahead of comedian Cyprien and his 14.2 million subscribers.
