(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 24 - Afghan activist for human rights and women's rights Zarifa Ghafari landed in Germany with her family at Cologne-Bonn airport late Monday evening. This was announced by the chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia.


    The woman, elected as mayor of the Afghan city Maidan Shahrnel 2018, fled the Taliban and was greeted on landing by the president of the CDU and candidate for chancellery Armin Laschet. Now he will be welcomed in the Land of which he is governor, North Rhine-Westphalia.


    From 2018 to date, Ghafari has been the target of at least six assassination attempts. (HANDLE).
