INTERVIEW - The managing director of the news division of the Lagardère group takes the floor to clarify the situation after a summer of crisis at Europe 1 and to explain the synergies with the Canal + group

New grid, new shareholder, new start.

After years of declining audiences and a major social crisis, the station is counting on the support of the Canal + group to regain its breath.

LE FIGARO.

- After a summer marked by a strike, what is the new face of Europe 1, which has joined forces with the Canal + group?

Constance BENQUE.

-

During the summer, Europe 1 was unfairly caricatured by some as an opinion radio.

This is wrong, Europe 1 is the radio of all opinions.

It's an open radio.

I did not respond to these attacks and preferred to speak in priority to the employees.

Today, I stand up to restore certain truths.

Europe 1 is and will remain a generalist radio station and my mission is to consolidate all the areas of news, culture, entertainment and great stories.

With Arnaud Lagardère, my boss, and the support of the Vivendi group, a new shareholder of the Lagardère group, we aim to restore Europe 1 to its status as a general resort.
