On the surface, the situation, as our poll indicates, is clear: the duel between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen structures French political life. The first necessarily wins over the second; the old political forces (right, left) are present in second place at the confrontation; the possible disruptors (Zemmour, Montebourg), for the moment, do not disturb anything. This electoral scum, however, does not correspond to the deep currents that cross French society. Democratic disaffiliation (colossal abstention), social mistrust (“yellow vests”, anti-pass movements), cultural partition (citizens “side by side or face to face?”), Moral and civic collapse (unlimited individual rights), plaintive mimicry ( all victims!). In the foreground, a frozen political composition, in the second,a panorama so blurry that it can change completely in a few weeks. This is the French enigma.
