German police announced that two people were seriously injured in a stabbing attack by an Afghan immigrant in the capital, Berlin.

The police said in a statement today, "The accident occurred yesterday evening, when the attacker stabbed a 58-year-old woman while she was doing work in the garden of her house in the Wilmsdorf area, inflicting serious wounds on her in the neck and then seriously wounding a man in the neck who rushed to help the woman."

The statement indicated that the perpetrator was arrested at the scene of the accident and it was found that he has been residing in the country since 2016 and suffers from psychological problems, while investigations are still ongoing to ascertain clearly the motives behind the accident.

The perpetrator is scheduled to appear before an investigative judge today to issue a ruling regarding the extension of his detention period.
