Sayed Zekrullah Hashimi, the Taliban spokesman, said in an interview with Tolo News that there was no need for women to be part of the Afghan government.
Hashimi says that "the role of women in Afghanistan should be restricted to giving birth."
The comment came after hundreds of women protested this week against the treatment they have been receiving.
