The retiring Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, arrived in Israel last night (Saturday) for a final visit that will last two days.
During this time, Merkel will meet with top officials and businessmen, and will once again visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum.
The German side emphasizes that this is not a farewell visit, but a work visit.
As part of her visit, Merkel is expected to meet today with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, with the aim of discussing security issues and the Iranian nuclear problem.
Later this morning, Merkel is expected to attend a cabinet meeting, which will be held at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.
She will then meet for lunch with President Yitzhak Herzog at the President's House.
Merkel is expected to meet tonight with high-tech people and Israeli entrepreneurs, and later she will meet once again with Bennett for a joint dinner.
In front of the cabinet meeting, bereaved families will hold a protest demonstration against Merkel, due to what they call "the extensive funding from the German government for Israeli and international organizations that support the boycott of Israel."
